The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population told how the introduction of a four-day working week can affect the salaries of Kazakhstanis, the correspondent reports Tengrinews.kz .

As the head of the Department of Labor and Social Partnership, Shalkar Orazbekov, recalled, the introduction of a four-day working week in Kazakhstan has been allowed since 2015.

"In 2023, within the framework of the Social Code, the possibility of a four-day working week was also defined. As for wages, as you know, according to the Labor Code, wages are paid in proportion to the amount of work performed. Accordingly, if the number of working days per week is reduced, then wages are paid in proportion to this reduction," Orazbekov explained at a CCS briefing.

At the same time, if the employer, despite the reduction in the number of working days, maintains the salary set for a five-day working week, this will not be considered a violation and does not contradict the Labor Code, the head of the department added.

Earlier, we talked about which areas of work can switch to a 4-day work week in Kazakhstan. This question was answered by Deputy Prime Minister Tamara Duissenova.
