Tenge strengthens amid rising oil prices

In June of this year, almost 64.7 billion tenge was sent abroad from Kazakhstan through international money transfer systems, the correspondent reports

At the same time, 18.6 billion tenge came back to Kazakhstan through the SMDP, according to statistics published by the National Bank.

That is, in June, money came to Kazakhstan from abroad almost 3.5 times less than it was sent.

At the same time, 141.6 thousand transactions were conducted abroad in June, and 48.6 thousand transfers were received in Kazakhstan. Compared to May, there was a slight decrease in both the number of transfers and the amounts.

Reference. International money transfer systems are used in Kazakhstan both for conducting transfers within the country and for sending/receiving money transfers abroad/from abroad.

Where and from where was the money sent?

The leaders in terms of money transfers from Kazakhstan are:

Uzbekistan - 26.9 billion tenge (41.6 percent of the total amount),
Russia - 17.5 billion tenge (27 percent),
Turkey - 8.5 billion tenge (13.1 percent),
Georgia - 3.5 billion tenge (5.4 percent),
Kyrgyzstan - 2 billion tenge (3.2 percent)
